Rappler’s Gemma Mendoza trains NTOT online journalism participants

10927975_10152710174849685_1135126279_nGemma Bagayaua Mendoza, Head of Research and Content Strategy of Rappler, trained the participants for online publishing during the VisMin Cluster National Training of Trainers on Campus Journalism at Crown Regency Hotel, Davao City on January 13-14, 2015.

Mendoza explained the importance of ones knowledge of the different sites as sources of information from the world wide web such as the Rappler, facebook, twitter, and wordpress as well as the processes in utilizing these sources for online journalism.

Mendoza had her training in web publishing training at the Stockholm University in Sweden and in multimedia journalism at the SEACEM in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She served as Editor-in-chief of ABS-CBNNews. com. She facilitated the transition of Newsbreak magazine from print to the internet and co-authored its book “The Enemy Within”, on military corruption and civilian neglect.

Her works won recognition in the Jaime V. Ongpin Awards for investigative Journalism, the UNICEF-Philippine Press Institute Awards for Child-Friendly Journalists, and the Asian Development Bank Institute’s Developing Asia. Journalism Awards.
